For the UPM KYMMENE Augsburg PM3 project, BVG Bauer-Verfahrenstechnik-GmbH out of Greifenberg, Germany was chosen as the supplier for their additive make down plant. The reason being, BVG was one of the few key engineering firms within the country and the only one located in the region. The order was awarded to BVG because they could offer a conclusive concept for all chemical products. Their innovative solution and proposal went over well with central planning at Haindl Papier since they had worked well together already on earlier projects. The contract comprised of the complete engineering, suppliers, installation, commissioning, and full optimization of the plant. The main focus was to provide a fully automated system. All together, 25 different chemical plants were provided, implemented strictly under the guidelines of the WHG. All the plants at PM 3 pulled together like a net. The chemicals are delivered either in powder or liquid form and loaded into storage tanks and silos. From there, the materials are prepared and metered automatically via a recepie manager.

The materials in detail:

Waste-paper Treatment / De-Inking

- Biocide

Online - PAA - Preparation

Neutralization of de-inking slurry

Silo and Metering for:
- Lime

If technologically justifiable, the plants would be continuous and the metering would be conducted online, i.e. it would do without storage and process tanks. Much innovation was used within the scope of processing the polyacrylamide, hydrogen sulfide and gradation colors.

The plant had fulfilled all expectations and the acceptance had been given to the customer in an astonishingly shorter period of time. ( 6 weeks after commissioning )
